Issue Position: Strong Fiscal Discipline to Put Taxpayers First

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2016

"Too many in Harrisburg forget that it is the people's money. They forget that too many in our state are struggling to get by. That's why I will work for common sense cost controls and reasonable items like a natural gas severance tax dedicated to education before asking more of taxpayers."

Implement smart cost controls to ensure the state spends only what it has and avoid large, broad-based tax increases
Help control property taxes by passing fair pension reforms that save taxpayers billions of dollars in the long-term while protecting the benefits of current enrollees
Limit any government spending increases to less than the rate of inflation
Eliminate unfunded mandates to reduce costs at the school, county and municipal levels
